Sundance Chooses nabs 'Hills'
Sundance Chooses has acquired United States privileges to Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu's religious drama "Past the Hillsides." Mungi authored the script and created together with Pascal Cauchteaux and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. The film stars Cosmina Stratan, Cristina Flutur, Dana Tapalaga, and Catalina Harabagiu. Mungiu's "4 Several weeks, 3 Days and a pair of Days" won the Palme d'Or and Fipresci Worldwide Experts Prize in the Cannes Film Festival in 2007.Story in "Past the Hillsides" focuses on two youthful ladies who have supported and loved one another since meeting as children within an orphanage. You have found refuge in an isolated convent in Romania and will not leave together with her friend, that has lived in Germany.The offer for that film was discussed by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice president of Purchases & Productions for Sundance Chooses/IFC Films with Carole Baraton at Wild Bunch with respect to the filmmakers.
